Film Fest Ghent now accepts registrations and submissions for the 19th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards Film Music Composition Contest. This year we invite participants to write an original composition for a selected excerpt from 'J'ai perdu mon corps' ('I Lost My Body'), Jérémy Clapin's 2019 film (which was part of the Official Competition at Film Fest Ghent 2019). The deadline for submissions is 31 May 2020. The winner will receive the Sabam Award for the Most Original Composition by a Young International Composer.
Every year International Film Fest Ghent organises a composition contest for young international film music talents with support of Sabam, the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers. A professional jury will choose three finalists, whose compositions will be performed live in world premiere by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé during the World Soundtrack Awards Concert in Capitole Ghent, Belgium on 24 October 2020.
The three nominees will also be invited to attend the film music events at Film Fest Ghent, such as the two concerts, the WSA networking dinner, the film music industry days and the WSA press conference. At these events the finalists will have the chance to meet professionals from the World Soundtrack Academy and the international film music industry.
The winner will be announced at the 2020 World Soundtrack Awards Concert, and will be presented with the Sabam Award for the Most Original Composition by a Young International Composer, worth € 2.500.
